On Friday 15th March we started our walk at Longparish & soon re-entered Harewood Forest, following concrete tracks left from the Second World War where vehicles & stores were concealed from enemy aircraft. Through the wood & following field boundaries & pleasant old farm lanes, we came down the valley to Wherwell. We walked behind the village & then crossed various branches of the River Test on foot bridges until we came to Chilbolton Common & West Down.
Going under the road bridge we then joined the old dismantled railway line, with the river running by our side , passing the village of Leckford & then straight on to Stockbridge.
We travelled 9.6 miles in 4 hours & then enjoyed an excellent lunch at The White Hart.
Next week we walk from Stockbridge to Romsey.
Thank you to all those who have donated to the Kingfisher Trust.
