Day 1. Wednesday 5th March just before 10am the walking team of Bob and Stewart who have been joined by Helen Watson and John Deveson set off from Inkpen Beacon on their 45 mile walk of the Test Way. The wind was blowing and rain continued for most of their journey.
After descending a steep chalk escarpment, we then followed downland paths up and down to arrive at Linkenholt and then on to Ibthorpe (we were joined here by our old friend Tim Finn-Kelsey) and then on again following the bed of a winterbourne ( a seasonally rising stream) into Hurstbourne Tarrant.
End of our journey at 1pm, having walked 8.5miles and then a well earned lunch at The George & Dragon.
Day 2. Friday 7th March, with the same team we set off at 9.30am from Hurstbourne Tarrant in fine weather heading for St Marybourne.
After walking through the village we headed up a steep hill and into woodland and walked through the woods of Wallop Hill Wood, then starting a decent into the village of St Marybourne . Passing behind the lake and the doctors surgery we turned right and headed up the hill again towards Lower Wyke and then over the road to Apsley. An interesting walk through the Biogas plant at Apsley Farm we then headed over the B3400 and into the Harewood Forest where our path finished at the Plough Inn which is currently closed.
End of our journey at 12.30pm, having walked 9.5miles, we were joined by our partners and headed back to The Bourne Valley Inn for our lunch.
Our next journey starts on Friday 15th March at 9.30am, when we will be travelling from Longparish to Stockbridge. If you have already donated, thank you very much.
